If you are you a Mountain Dew fan like I am, try Mountain Dew Bread!
Here's a bread recipe that incorporates Mountain Dew as a unique ingredient. This recipe will produce a slightly sweet, soft bread with a hint of citrus flavor from the soda. It’s a simple quick bread, meaning no yeast or long rising times are required.
Mountain Dew Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup Mountain Dew (regular, not diet, for the sugar content)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Zest of 1 lemon or lime (optional, to enhance the citrus vibe)
2 tablespoons honey (optional, for extra sweetness and moisture)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until well combined.
Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the Mountain Dew, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and lemon/lime zest (if using). If you’re adding honey, stir it in here too. The Mountain Dew will fizz a bit—that’s normal!
Make the Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Don’t overmix; a few lumps are okay. The batter will be slightly sticky and bubbly due to the carbonation.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top lightly with a spatula. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve: Slice and enjoy as is, or spread with butter, honey, or even a cream cheese glaze for extra decadence. The bread has a tender crumb with a subtle Mountain Dew flavor—perfect for a quirky snack or breakfast treat!
Notes:
Texture: The carbonation in Mountain Dew helps lighten the bread, while the sugar adds a touch of sweetness.
Variations: Add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (like pecans) or dried fruit (like cranberries) for texture, or a pinch of cinnamon for warmth.
Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
