I remember in school being taught that how they determine how many calories food contained, was to take a chunk and burn it in a flame. Then calculating how much of the food to raise the temperature of water one degree. A weight loss person said that calories don't count. Why? Because your body doesn't use flames to create calories, it breaks down your food chemically. If you stop and think, that makes sense. They also said to look at your metabolism, because that's what controls your weight. Because it's why some people can eat a lot of calories, do little exercise, and not gain weight. While others can eat very little calories, exercise, and still gain weight. That, too, makes sense.
