Remove The High Places2 Kings 12:3“But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.”In the Old Testament we read of a continual pattern of evil in the life of God’s people. Each time a new king came upon the throne to reign there was opportunity for revival. There was opportunity to remove the high places (elevated places of idol worship), and to worship the LORD God only.In the beginning of 2 Kings chapters 12, 14, & 15 we read that “the high places were not removed” and that was followed by the fact that we read in chapters 16 and 17 that they “sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places”.In 2 Kings 18 we read where King Hekiziah removed them, but in chapter 23 we read that King Manasseh “built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed”. Not until King Josiah did the people of God see any hope of ridding themselves completely of idol worship.Dear Christian friend is there any “high place” of idol worship in your life in which you bow to another god other than the LORD God? If so, remove the high place at once, lest it be the ruin of yourself and your family!
