FLYING, RUNNING, WALKING Isaiah 40:31 offers a great truth for all believers. It says, "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."Christians, preachers included, who spend all their time flying and running for the Lord have missed the will of God, the word of God and the way of God. Yes, there are times when flying and running are necessary, but these are not normal daily activities. The most common activity is simply walking, and the Scriptures use this analogy the most . . .Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.Galatians 5:25: If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.Romans 6:4: . . . we also should walk in newness of life.Genesis 5:22: And Enoch walked with God . . .Genesis 6:9: . . . Most either spend their lives sitting in laziness or jumping, stumbling and falling into sin and error. Some just crawl like babies from the cradle to the grave. Others are little more than high energy busybodies who spend so much time flying and running with the brethren that they never get still long enough to really know God or to hear His voice (I Kgs. 19:12; Psa. 46:10). Martha was corrected for this very thing (Luke 10:38-42), and we will be corrected for it at the judgment seat of Christ, unless we learn the principle of spiritual rest and WALKING with the Lord.
