THE TREE OF LIFE "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:" (Gen. 3:22) Adam could have received eternal life by taking and eating of the tree of life. Eternal life was available no other way. Had he bowed before the tree and offered flattering prayers, nothing would have happened. Had he cut a branch from the tree and kept it on his mantle, nothing would have happened. A sketch of the tree in his home wouldn’t have saved him. An in-depth study of the tree would have been useless. Adam could have even ran around Eden singing about the tree and talking about it, but he would have gained no eternal life. Only by taking and eating of the tree could man receive this free gift of God.Friend, you can sing about Jesus, and still go to hell. You can utter an empty prayer, and still go to hell. You can talk about Jesus and even preach about Jesus, and still go to hell. A Jesus necklace or bracelet may impress some people, but such will not save you. A Jesus statue in your home or car will not help you. You must become a partaker of his divine nature if you are to become his child. “But as many as RECEIVED him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on his name.” (John 1:12) Just as Adam would have had to receive fruit from the tree of life into his own person, you must receive Jesus Christ into your heart and become a new creature. Nothing less can save you. "O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." (Psa. 34:8)
