Professor Cho Jae-weon of South Korea's Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) created the BeeVi toilet, an environmentally beneficial technology that converts human excrement into energy while rewarding users with digital currency. This unique toilet employs a vacuum pump to transport excrement to an underground tank, where microorganisms transform it into methane gas. Methane is then used to power building equipment including gas stoves, hot water boilers, and solid oxide fuel cells. Each user gets 10 Ggool ('honey' in Korean) per day, a virtual currency that may be redeemed for campus things like as coffee, noodles, fruits, and books.
