"YET I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD" "Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments." (Habakkuk 3:17-19)The joy that Habakkuk wrote about was not based on what was happening in the physical world around him. His joy was found in the Power of God above him. Worldly happiness is fleeting at best. The happiness the world offers is a shallow one that knows no depth or duration. That kind of warm and fuzzy, tickle the toes, feel good happiness while singing "Michael row the boat ashore" changes from day to day.The prophet knew that the judgments of God were going to fall on his nation. Keep in mind, God's judgement will fall on our own nation or any other nation as well one day because of rebellion against Him. Our Country is dancing to a new beat these days, where an ever-growing mob have evicted righteousness, and embraced ridiculousness. As you study the Scriptures, you'll happen upon two great Truths: God's patience and long suffering has been ongoing for ages, but His patience and long suffering won't go on forever! Yet, in spite of similar events in Habakkuk's own homeland, he declared that it would not redirect his joy, for he rejoiced in the LORD, the unchanging One.Though the world changes constantly, Habakkuk found reason to rejoice in his changeless God. He knew the character of God to be faithful and true, always loving and yet righteous. He would continue to be joyful in the God of his salvation, regardless of any circumstances.Do you know this type of spiritual joy, or is yours the shallow joy of circumstance? Do you know the greatness and the goodness of God Who guarantees He will never leave you nor forsake you? Can you rejoice in His love that will never change? Have you experienced His saving and securing grace He showered upon you, that doesn't rock back and forth, or up one day and then down the next? Are you thankful for all things?Well, after announcing his joy in the Lord, Habakkuk goes on to write in the last verse of this 3rd chapter, "The LORD God is my strength." He didn't trust in his own weak ability, but in that glorious might of his God Who rules over the affairs of men. He closed his prophecy declaring how his joy will continue in the Lord by saying, "He WILL make my feet like hind's feet, and he WILL make me to walk upon mine high places." (caps mine)With all that's going on in our World today, do you not see the lost at every turn wallowing around in their muddy madness like a bunch of hateful hogs? Oh, but our Lord's desire for His children is to walk with Him on that holy and higher plain with our hearts filled with the peace of God and our lips declaring the same with joy unspeakable. That's not by any means called escaping the problems we face, rather, it's what I call enjoying His promises by faith!Friends, every day the God of your salvation wants you to walk with Him and experience the Heartbeat of Heaven's Joy, the Lord Jesus. So, when life's circumstances come your way, remember the Scriptures big: "YET."
