"THE BLESSINGS OF GOD'S GRACE" "But by the GRACE of God I am what I am: and his GRACE which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the GRACE of God which was with me." (1 Corinthians 15:10) Oh, the matchless, marvelous, miracle-working grace of God. What a wonderful word from Heaven to a wicked world of fallen humans. The hymn writer penned it well saying, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me." We are nothing but what the grace of God makes us. Goodness doesn't make us, rather it is grace which makes us.The melody of grace has wrought miracle after miracle in the lives of countless souls. Where would any of us be without God's amazing grace? Without grace there would be condemnation, separation, and damnation for all. Ah, but the grace of God can change that sentence when lost souls humbles themselves and trust Christ. May we ever be mindful of the fact that God gives grace to the humble (James 4:6b). We also learn from 1 Peter 5:5 that "God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble." We can conclude then that a humble spirit is one where pride has been conquered. We can be sure then when our pride has been subdued, God's grace reigns!Now, when Paul was writing to the Church at Corinth, he used the word GRACE three times in verse 10 which I posted at the outset. We find that by GRACE:We have been FORMED by Him..."But by the GRACE of God I am what I am."We have been FREED by Him..."and his GRACE which was bestowed upon me was not in vain."We are to bear FRUIT for Him..."but I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the GRACE of God which was with me."Friends, the riches of God's grace have been extended to those who by faith have trusted Jesus Christ and have received and are rejoicing in His promise of eternal salvation. Therefore, by grace we live, by grace we are loved, and by grace we labor. Praise God for His marvelous grace!
