With few exceptions, congress is rotten to the core... Sometimes I think that it would be better if we drafted members of congress and didn't elect them. Those who run for public office and have millions of dollars backing their election campaigns are in it for the perks and status that come with the job. Those financial backers who got them elected are expected to be rewarded for their support. It's not about public service, self-enrichment is the name of the game.
