For Better or For Worse The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December Seventh, 1941. Changes came to the lives and aspirations of millions of Americans, but none more than those of a young couple who were very much in love and hoping to marry soon. It started their lives on a roller-coaster ride of hope and anticipation to despair and grief and finally optimism and joy of immeasurable proportions. At one point to invoke the wish of, “To sleep, perchance to dream”, in the restful arms of death. The fortunes of war bringing insurmountable occurrences to each of their lives by different enemies bent on permanently coming between them. It is the story of love tested by disaster, separation and a combination of circumstances that test not only that love, but also the character of their upbringing and family support.
