I am compelled to share this. Somebody needs to hear it. This occurred to me the other morning as I walked down a country road in the company of my two dogs. I state right up front that I have no seminary training and take no credit for the thought whatsoever but give full credit to the Holy Spirit's prompting.
All of mankind, including you and I, are fully represented in all of our misery, sorrow, shame and sin there as the two thieves on the crosses on either side of Jesus. There we are just as were they, helpless and hopeless to save ourselves.
One chose to deny his sin all the while hurling insults and scorn at his only hope. The other chose to admit his guilt calling their sentence just. Confessing his sin, he asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His kingdom and received mercy, grace and salvation.
Everyone must choose. The consequences are eternal.
