“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
--- I John 3: 18
Love becomes dynamic when we love with more than just our words but do it by action. Deeds always speak louder than words. Anyone can say that they love someone, but they prove they love someone when they do things that demonstrate their love.
This axiom works in many areas. In marriage, we have to work at it with deeds of kindness and consideration, or the fire will go out. We demonstrate that we love people around us by sharing the gospel with them. We will demonstrate our love for youth by doing something in ministry to show we care. We help the poor by going to them and ministering to their needs.
Conversely, nothing makes love a stale word more than saying you love someone with their mouth and never doing something we show that we care. Jesus loved us with a cross. His disciples loved us by taking His message with everyone everywhere. We love serving others, making people more important than ourselves, and honoring them respectfully. On Valentine's Day tomorrow, we must practice this type of love to effectively serve Christ.
