We need to read our Bible so you know you aren't being deceived!
So many Churches just want to preach "feel good" sermons just to fill seats for your tithes.
I ran across this on Quora. It was posted 6 years ago and has been viewed almost 8,000 times with only 21 upvotes for liking it. It’s sad so many churches aren’t teaching the Truth.
What is the point of non-denominational churches?
I have spent 30 years as a vocational minister in the largest Protestant denomination in the United States, and my first response to your question is this: What is the point of many denominational churches?
I find very few churches where the Gospel is actually proclaimed.
In fact, many churches, both denominational and non-denominational, while holding themselves out to be “Christian,” actually hold to the religion of “Therapeutic Deism.” What I mean by that is this: Too many churches believe that God exists in order to cure your sicknesses, heal your hurts, answer your prayers, bless you physically and financially, and keep you out of harm’s way.
That is not the Christian faith. Nothing in Biblical faith, nothing in Scripture, teaches that God will necessarily keep any adversity out of our lives. The purpose of Christian faith isn’t to avoid life’s problems. The purpose of Christian faith is to glorify God. For some of us, that means giving Him glory in our pain, suffering, trouble, trials, and tribulations, as Job did.
For some of us, that means dying, even sometimes painfully.
Consider the millions of Christians who are persecuted today around the world, and are in prison, and are being tortured and killed for their faith.
There is no way the majority of professing Christians in the United States would endure such adversity. We have been programmed falsely to expect God to protect us and keep us from these trials.
There are denominations, and churches within denominations, that teach a false faith. And there is a preponderance of non-denominational churches that teach false faith as well.
