HOW MAN HAS MADE A MESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST
What we see in Israel and the Middle East is a result of man (Abraham) not waiting on God to keep his promise and instead taking matters into their own hands. Because of this they have fighting over that land for thousands of years.
God promised the entire land of Canaan to Abraham and his descendants:
--- Genesis 17:8:
The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.”
And
---Genesis 15:18-21:
On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, 19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”
The land known as Canaan was situated in the territory of the southern Levant, which today encompasses Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, and the southern portions of Syria and Lebanon.
God promises to establish a covenant through Isaac:
--- Genesis 17:19:
Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. [4] I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
After 10 years waiting for a child, Abraham and Sarah took matters into their own hands. Abraham had a child with one of their maid-servants, named Hagar. Hagar gave birth to Ismael.
Some 13 years later, however, Sarah gave birth to Isaac. Sarah was 90 years old and Abraham was 100 years old
God tells Abraham through Isaac all nations will be blessed:
…and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
--- Genesis 22:18
God used this bloodline to bless all nations. Jesus was born, which is God in the form of man, to die for our sins and to be raised from the dead.
Because of Jesus’ work on the cross all nations are blessed by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savour.
Lesson here:
Wait on God!
Don’t take things into your own hands. We all will undoubtedly mess up and think we are doing what God is telling us. The best way to know God is to read and meditate on His Word. The more you know God’s ways (voice) , the more likely you will be to do what He wants and not what we want.
