13 But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will perform for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again, ever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, while you keep silent.”
In Exodus, the people were hostile and despairing, but Moses encouraged them to watch the wonderful way God would rescue them. Moses had a positive attitude! When it looked as if they were trapped, Moses called upon God to intervene. We may not be chased by an army. (not yet anyways) But we may still feel trapped. Instead of giving in to despair, we should adopt Moses’ attitude to “stand still and watch the Lord rescue” us.
--- Life Application Study Bible notes
The Israelites were slaves escaping from Egypt.
With the Egyptian army bearing down, and the Red Sea at their backs, the Israelites needed God to act. There was no hope otherwise. Moses had faith that God would deliver them from the enemy and their slavery. God told Moses to raise his hand over the Red Sea. When Moses raised his hand over the Red Sea God opened up a path through the water allowing the Israelites to cross the sea on dry land to freedom. After crossing God told Moses to raise his hand again and the Lord sent the waters rushing back destroying the Egyptian army that was trying to capture them and bring them back to slavery.
Likewise, in our life today, God has provided a way to free us from the slavery of sin by providing us a path to freedom through our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. --- Romans 10:9 NLT
Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are a new creation.
The old had gone and the new has come. --- 2 Corinthians 5:17
If you have accepted Jesus, continue building your faith believing what God has promised you. The Bible tells us:
So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ.--- Romans 10:17 AMP
As you read the Word your faith will continue to grow allowing you to continue moving forward. The Bible tells us --- I can do all this through him who gives me strength--- Philippians 4:13. Believe it!
After God delivered the Isrealites from the enemy they still didn’t have faith that God was going to deliver them into the promised land. The land of milk and honey. They saw giants in the promised land and didn’t have faith that God would destroy these giants like He did the Egyptians. Because of their lack of faith they ended up wandering around the desert instead of moving forward into the promises that God had for them. Don’t spend your life wandering around the desert like the Isrealites did. If you have giants in your life, believe the promises God has told you in His Word
What would have happened if David didn’t believe what God told him about delivering him from the giant Goliath? He only took his slingshot, 5 stones and the promise that he can defeat this giant.
With God you can defeat the giants in your life. BELIEVE IT!!!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
I ask You to quiet my mind and still my racing thoughts by Your presence. You didn’t give me a spirit of fear but of power. I surrender my fear to You.
I know You are fighting for me. I know You will bring me deliverance from my troubles and my enemy.
I stand firm believing You are God Almighty, You are who You say You are, You are what You say You are. You are my all in all.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
