Read a post about yet another train derailment, this one in Minnesota. That got me to thinking more about the media feeding frenzy every time a train is involved. I speak from experience, when I was a volunteer firefighter we were called out for three of them decades ago.At any rate, and given the media's propensity of reporting things for ratings. (Some would be less kind and say they're doing it to avoid reporting real news that could effect us for the rest of our lives.)At any rate I really wanted to know how common are derailments and all things railroadish (yes, I made that word up). I went to the Federal Railway Administration's website and below is what I found.Make up your own mind whether or not the train reporting is really a ruse to fill time and print space at the expense of hard news that will affect us forever or not.
