I think we need to cultivate and maintain the ability to respectfully disagree. We can disagree with others and still refer to them with respectful language, engage them in respectful conversations and even continue to like and respect them! Having respect dialog is how we can change other's perspectives. Their abilities to see your side snaps shut the instant you insult and disrespect them. Sometimes I need to remember this myself! It can be a challenge to maintain respect when confronted with disrespect. However their attitudes speak to their character. Your attitudes speak to yours. Never let someone's disrespectful attitude drag you down to their level. We lead by example, not by badgering others while our own attitudes are awful.
