One of my favorite historians and political commentators is Brion McClanahan. He has a podcast that is wonderful on Youtube. He has written lots of books, including the wonderful "The Founding Father's Guide to the Constitution."
This meme is one of his best quotes and ideas. He understands that we all have the most influence locally. He is a strong advocate of decentralizing power as the framer's envisioned. I try to model my political action after the idea.
As evidenced by my background picture, my line in the sand is drawn around Texas. Texas is a big place, so it is not exactly "local," but I choose to focus on Texas state and county politics. DC is dead to me. I do not think the feds will ever limit their own power.
So I try to discipline myself to focus on Texas politics, not federal politics.
The other implication of that is that I want most of my friends on Wimkin to be Texans. I know there are lots of wonderful, liberty loving people outside Texas, but in the limited time I have, I want to focus on building relationships within Texas.
Because when the next big crisis that threatens liberty occurs, I think that we will win our liberty by interacting mostly with those in our state and community.
So, if I turn your friendship request down, it is likely because I can tell you do not live in Texas or cannot tell that you do because you have locked down your profile to hide geographical info.
