Genetic kinship of the peoples of Europe based on the analysis of DNA samples from the UK BiobankThe authors studied the genomes of 5,500 people whose DNA samples were stored in the UK Biobank. For the analysis, the IBD (identical-by-descent) method was used, which identifies segments of common origin in the genomes of individuals from different populations, which indicates common ancestors in the recent past. The researchers selected 5,500 individuals of European origin who were born not only in Great Britain and Ireland, but also in other regions: Northern Europe, Western Europe, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, Southeastern Europe, the Middle East, a total of 47 countries, from each 10 to 200 samples were presented. About 500 thousand SNPs were analyzed in each genome. The analysis of the main components for 5500 samples was carried out using the PLINK algorithm based on allele frequencies
