If the earth is flat then why are there time zones, doesn't it always have to be day everywhere ?? This question is often asked by people who haven't dealt with the FE for a second. In the FE model, the sun is not 1.3 million times larger than the earth, but much smaller and local. (Simple trigonometry shows that the sun is between 4 and 8000 km high) This creates a light field over the earth, which causes day and night due to the clockwise sun circulating over the surface.
