// FBI Whistleblowers Highlight Agency Malfeasance//
Two men have come forward with claims about FBI internal practices. Special Agent Steve Friend objected to his superiors, stating his opinion that a SWAT raid used against Jan. 6 subjects who were accused of misdemeanor offenses was excessive force and was in violation of FBI policy.
Among his other allegations, Friend says the FBI expanded the restricted zone to include the area around the Capitol building, though it was not labeled as such on January 6th, in an effort to increase the number of people subject to prosecution. Information gathered from Facebook messenger was also used to question people who were not in Washington DC on the 6th or who had attended the Trump rally but had not gone to the Capitol. Friend has been suspended by the FBI.
A second whistleblower, Kyle Seraphin, was interviewed by Dan Bongino. He spoke of a highly politicized FBI environment where agents were expected to spy on citizens with scant or nonexistent cause. Seraphin previously exposed the FBI’s practice of using Patriot Act provisions to target parents speaking out at school board meetings. Seraphin is under suspension from the FBI.
