We bought our property 11 years ago. There are 2 distinct areas. The upper portion, covered by pine and Holly trees and "Sherwood". You need to get a sense of "Sherwood". It has pine, gum, oak, and cedar trees. It also gets covered by grape vines as well as other horrid vines! It appears that about 50 years ago, the county scooped out dirt in order to elevate the main road. It also seems that we might have a spring somewhere down in "Sherwood". We have determined to pretty much leave it alone. The variety of wildlife that lives in "Sherwood" is astounding! We have deer, raccoons, opossums, fox, squirrels, rabbits, etc. We also have rattlesnakes, copperheads, skinks, lizards, frogs/toads (some the size of dinner plates), etc. A few of the critters come through the fence. But, last night was a first! We apparently also have crayfish (crawdads). Isn't it amazing what you can see when you look! The dogs alerted to the crayfish and almost got their noses pitched! Take the time to pay attention to everything going on around the world. Take care of your family.
