     I decided to do some reading regarding the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report released yesterday afternoon. Brief synopsis is that unless we dump fossil fuels in the next 8 years we are lost. They are pushing solar, wind, nuclear and hydrogen power.     A couple of days ago, the Secretary-general set up another panel to determine ways to MANDATE compliance of private industry, investors, city, state, regions, countries. If this doesn't raise your hackles I'm not sure what else to say.  The potential estimates are beyond comprehensible.Stop and remember the amount of energy consumed to just produce the components.  Then, think about the amount of lead time to build nuclear plants, manufacturing plants, mining operations etc.     Without dramatically REDUCING the standard of living in developed countries NOW there is no way to come close to the "experts" goals!  I'm not saying that we shouldn't do something - we should.  Individually each of us can reduce our power consumption a little.  You remember your father running around turning off lights not being used?  We need other ways to convert solar and wind into truly usable, reliable sources of energy.  Do your own research, don't be afraid to speak up, do what you can were you are with what you have!
