Yesterday I read the February 2022 Imprimis (publication of Hillsdale College). It was a summary of a lecture given by Matt Rosenberg on the Spiraling Violence in Chicago. I remembered a time when I was in 2nd grade. Mrs. Dwyer, my teacher, had to leave at around 10am. The school used high school students as our substitute teachers. By about 1pm they had lost control of the classroom. Yes, there were a couple of troublemakers. The principle walked in. The next thing we knew we were lined up at the cloakroom door. Each of us was taken in and spanked. No, there was no paddle, just her hand. Each of us were punished, as even if we were not a troublemaker, we did not try to stop the behaviour! It was a valuable lesson learned at a young age! Sometimes talking just doesn't stop anything, action is necessary! We must take responsibility for our own actions! We must not be cowered into inaction! No one has the right to censor you! We can no longer sit on the peripheral expecting others to take a stand. Right is right and wrong is wrong!Stop moaning and start doing. Research the facts, take a stand, speak up and prepare!
