HI Pal; Intellect is important in being a Christian. There are good and sound reasons to believe. Blaise Pasquale formulated a logical proof for the existence of GOD. He begins with the syllogism; I THINK THEREFORE I AM….However, Christianity is BEYOND even BELIEF or intellectual ascent. After all, the Apostle James wrote; …EVEN THE DEMONS BELIEVE AND TREMBLE (James 2:19) We are to EXPERIENCE the presence of GOD and this begins with FAITH ALONE. May I again suggest this simple prayer: GOD, I DON’T KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO DO WITH YOU, AND I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO WITH ME…AND I DON’T KNOW WHAT JESUS HAS TO DO WITH ANYBODY…BUT IF YOU’RE REAL…IF CHRIST IS REAL…PLEASE SHOW ME! Friend, this is how I began my faith adventure in 1977. I can honestly say; HE HAS BEEN SHOWING ME EVER SINCE! It is that simple. Your mind has become your own enemy in so many ways (like many of us). Simply put aside the arguments and what you THINK you know, and allow yourself to relax in this very simple prayer. HE will do the rest….My friend; One last thing. if you are very honest, you may agree there is a large part of one’s being that would prefer to deny GOD’S existence, to keep the STATUS-QUO. That is to say; there are behaviors and thoughts we all do that we intuitively know MUST BE SURRENDERED as sin. If you are anything like me, we would rather not give-up certain things, so it is easy to rationalize keeping GOD at a distance…. I will say this: I have repeatedly been humbled and BLESSED by the fact that when I surrender, JESUS fills that deep place with something far, far better…Truly TRUE! Surrender is a PROCESS. The theologians refer to it as SANCTIFICATION. It can ALL BEGIN with the faith of a mustard seed.
