Border Patrol Agents Shot At While Detaining Illegal AliensU.S. Border Patrol Agents were shot at from Mexico while they were detaining illegal aliens in California. According to a statement, the agents were arresting a group of Illegal aliens near Otay Mountain in San Diego County, California. The agents were “approximately two miles east of the Otay Mesa gatehouse and approximately 250 yards north of the US/Mexico international border.”“As agents escorted the group to their vehicles, they heard gunfire and gunshots heading towards the area where they were. Agents immediately ordered the aliens to take cover behind the bushes, while they themselves sought shelter,” the statement added."Air & Marine Operations (AMO) and the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) responded to the area immediately, but could not locate the subjects. The international liaison unit requested the assistance of Mexican authorities, who responded south of the border in the area where the shots were suspected to originate,” it continued.“Residents of the area reported seeing several people from the Mexican side flee the area in a pickup truck and a motorcycle. No other information on the subjects could be obtained,” it said.“This assault comes just three days after another shooting was reported by Border Patrol Agents in El Paso, Texas. In that incident, surveillance camera operators in that sector confirmed the presence of two subjects armed with high-caliber rifles firing toward the United States side of the Rio Grande,” the statement added.Raul Ortiz, the incoming Chief of the Border Patrol, is sounding the alarm about the Joe Biden border crisis.(https://www.hstoday.us/people-on-the-move/raul-ortiz-named-chief-of-u-s-border-patrol/)During a press event, Ortiz said that “300 to 400 Border Patrol Agents” are out from work every single day, because they have been forced into quarantine.“What we’re experiencing now with unaccompanied children, family units, migrants from countries that we traditionally don’t experience these tremendous flows from, or what our Border Patrol Agents are faced with each and every day, and then you compound that with this Covid threat,” Ortiz said.“At any given day, I may have between 300 and 400 Border Patrol Agents that are in a quarantine status and, as you know, I wear this black badge over my — this black band over my badge because we’ve lost eight Border Patrol Agents in the line of duty to Covid or to other events, and one is too many,” he said.Ortiz added: “In my thirty years, this is the most complicated situation I have ever experienced.”Illegal alien apprehensions at the U.S./Mexico border are getting worse by the day and even worse month over month.U.S. Border Patrol Agents have reported that agents apprehended nearly 210,000 aliens who illegally crossed the border from Mexico in July. This represents an increase of 420% (FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY PERCENT) compared to July 2020.“As of Wednesday, more than 15,000 aliens were in Border Patrol custody, according to Customs and Border Protection data obtained by NBC News,” the report added.“In the last 2-3 weeks, the percent positivity rates among all demographics have increased,” the document says.
