The General
By Michael Zildjian 8/8/21
We salute the General.
A leader truly incredible.
A man far from untenable.
In his honor should be a holiday federal.
What is the measure of a man?
Not the might of his hand.
Not the grandeur of his plans.
But in the face of adversity,
how tall he stands.
A man is made of responsibility and discipline.
Yet heroes must too be good at listening.
Words of encouragement they are whispering.
Pushing souls to start glistening.
Without him there would be no Patriot Streetfighters.
Maybe we’d all be hippy beat writers.
Or adventure junky hand gliders.
But instead we are tomorrow’s speech writers.
On a mission from god to save the kids.
Doing only what our creator bids.
Shining our light where the Devil forbids.
Squishing and squashing Satan’s evil squids.
So dearest General, we salute your service.
And thank you for showing us not to be nervous.
We wish you God Speed and divine verses.
From the Kingdom of Heaven, you’ll forever serve us.
——
This was written to honor the life of Sam McKay, affectionately called The General, the father of Scott McKay, the mastermind of the Patriot Streetfighters. The General died on August 6, 2021 after a brief illness. (More will be revealed to the public soon.)
