I laughed out loud when I read this quotation from Sophocles. I certainly understand that some people would find this realization to be painful, but Sophocles? My own experience was just the opposite. I was totally elated when I had my realization that I was responsible for everything I had created in my life. It was incredibly empowering for me. I don’t remember the date nor the situation that prompted my realization. It was a long time ago, and I joyfully accepted full responsibility. I do remember the feeling. Elation. Empowerment. Ecstasy. And yes, I still have moments when I am surprised at what I have created, regardless of how I might characterize the creation. I learn from it all.
