Forget all those who are saying "Happy Fourth" or "Happy Fourth of July". That's nonsense! This is "Independence Day". The day we celebrate our becoming a free, independent, and sovereign nation. A place where people are free. Free to live their own lives. Free to make their own choices. Free to succeed and free to fail. Free to exercise the right our very intelligent and thoughtful founders bestowed on every American. A Constitution that guaranteed our inalienable rights and freedoms while at the same time setting up a system of laws and punishments for those incapable of exercising civility. Our Declaration of Independence and our Bill of Rights are only second to the Holy Bible given to us by God himself. They were designed to leave no room for the ludicrous thoughts of those with inferior intellect, evil intent and action, greed, or a thirst for power over others. And, very sadly, we have failed. Succumbed to the nonsense of other lesser, poorer and more oppressive nations. Failed nations full of envy for American ingenuity, success, innovations and, most importantly, individual wealth. The roots of this socialism date back to the days of Franklin Roosevelt who, even as brave Americans were dying in foreign lands to preserve individual freedoms, even while American ingenuity and energy was cranking out the tools and weapons to support those on the front lines, Roosevelt took it upon himself to force Americans to share their wealth with those who refused to pull their own weight. In short, he legalized theft by the government. More importantly and with longer lasting effect, he destroyed a big part of the American dream, the part where if you work hard enough and lo9ng enough you have an excellent opportunity to create your own wealth. (I case you missed it, back in April I wrote a piece titled "We Could Have Owned The World". It clarifies much of what FDR was really all about and where we could have been today had he not embraced socialism as he did.)And what happened to our magnificent manufacturing leadership. Short answer, labor unions. Long answer, labor unions and a government full of people who never built a thing in their lives. Now everything is made in China. They've become the manufacturing hub of the world. So while so much of our wealth goes to them, our ability continues in decline as liberals think no job beats the hell out of people doing manual labor to pay the bills and put food on the table. And now, we of more orbits around the sun than most, can look back at the protest songs of brain damaged, stoned rockers and those lyrics now apply to the situation we, meaning us thinking conservatives, find ourselves in while our country goes to hell in a hand basket. So today, for that matter every other day, but especially today, think about what the word "independence" really means. Think of what it cost to achieve. Think of the price we are paying as it is dismantled piece by piece, day by day. Happy Independence Day to all of you who truly understand what that means. And if you can try imparting some of that knowledge to the victims of our modern day propaganda farms… er… school systems that would be great.
