A couple of years ago, my book Born to Serve was chosen to be used in the A P History Dept. Of Washington High school in Washington, PA.The Dep. Leader, Jeff Bummer contacted me & asked if I would participate in their effort to bring recognition to Major Happer. Recognition I might add that the Major never sought for himself.Their main objective was a state historical marker to be installed in front of the Major's former home.The second objective was to have a yearly festival type event to celebrate the Major's incredible service to the entire County. We met with the Mayor & City Council & they were very supportive.Long story short, it didn't quite work out as planned, but that is a story for another day.My point today is to remember those students and Mr. Bunner for all their hard work. This was only the beginning. It gets Really interesting! Stay tuned.
