I am a member of a living history group called tge Washington Co.Regiment of No. Carolina Militia ( which was banned on FB because of the word 'militia'), based at Sycamore Shoaks Historic Park in Elizabethton, TN. It's the oldest histirical site in the state, has 2 satellite parks and spans eras from 1763 through the Civil War. After a whole year of not having authorized events, we had the Carter Mansion celebration. The Carter Mansion (3000 sq. Ft oldest framed home in tge state, 90 % original) was completed in 1781 and was home to John Carter, prominent Watauga leader and his son, Landon, first Sec. of State in TN. We had a great time, plenty of activity and guests. It was so good to see many of the nenbers I hadn't seen since the scandemic began.
