Snowfall
All the steady snowfall of the last few days has been adding up. It came after the rain, so some melted right into the ground. Thankfully it didn't freeze overnight when it switched, so only some ice, not ice everywhere.
It rained on and off all day Tuesday into the morning, so it moved from rain into snow. We have had many ice storms when the temperature drops. This time though, we also had a strong breeze. It seemed to dry up a lot of the wetter places from the rain.
The cold had turned the wet and soggy ground firm. And the snow has begun to insulate that ground.
This is our first snow that is sticking snd building up. It looks beautiful from inside, especially when the woodstove is on. It is not too bad yet outside as the wind has died down.
Of course we shoveled paths around the farm and driveway. Thankfully the snow was not too deep yet, so didn't take so long.
Since we had a quiet Thanksgiving at home yesterday, we didn't need to be out in the weather for long. Of course morning, midday and evening chores take place daily, whatever the weather. Farm chores can't be ignored whatever the weather.
So, while some may be longing for winter sports to commence, with massive snowfall, we are praying for a slower and more manageable pace of falling snow. We also pray for not so brutal temperatures.
Except for prayers the weather is outside of our power to change. We ask, prepare for the season and leave it in God's hands. But that is pretty much how we live our daily lives. Pray, prepare and leave them in God's hands.
Winter hasn't officially started, so we really don't know what this winter will be like until it is over. This is true of all the seasons, but in the Northwoods it is especially true of winter.
Stay strong! No matter the weather, a day with Jesus is a blessed day indeed!
