Making Pies
I am thankful for so many things, some of which are my salvation, my family, our home and the ability to celebrate a day of thanksgiving!
Lately our Thanksgivings have been quieter and simpler celebrations than in the past, but are still so special.
It doesn't take a big celebration to make Thanksgiving a celebration! Thinking of what makes a Thanksgiving festive is part of the joy that leads up to the dinner.
Praying and filling our hearts with gratitude while planning a nice dinner and not stressing over it, is a recipe that keeps us in the proper mood of thankfulness.
Today is the day we made our pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Yesterday we baked the pumpkin for the pies and got it ready for baking.
We also made some spiced Apple Juice, simmering on the woodstove and scenting the air.
The scents of spiced apple juice and pumpkin pie baking is a wonderful combination. It smells so festive!
This preparation for Thanksgiving is part of the anticipation of the actual day.
Since we make extra pies it also gives us a snack in the morning while the fire is starting.
Pumpkin pie smoothered in whipped cream with eggnog coffee are so good and a great way to start Thanksgiving!
